Green Initiatives At Eco-Friendly Spirit Hair Company In High Wycombe

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HAIR SALON NEAR ME

The team at Spirit Hair Company in High Wycombe have joined The Green Salon Collective to make a conscious effort to play our part in reducing and recycling our salon waste.

We have always been mindful of the amount of waste the salon generates and want to do something to help the environment.  We care deeply about becoming part of the solution and not part of the problem.

Most people may be unaware of a salon’s negative impact on the environment. The disposal of unused toxic colour products down the sink, foils and colour tubes in the general waste, and the disposal of PPE equipment, constitutes what we believe to be the ‘ugly side’ of our industry.

We are doing something to change this.

The Green Salon Collective recycle almost all of our salon waste to turn it into something new. They recycle and recover hair, towels, used foils, empty colour tubes, chemicals, PPE, plastic & paper.

How You Can Help

We are asking our clients to help us with this system by contributing £1.50. This will automatically be added to your bill. You may request us to remove this however we would be delighted to share with you all the fantastic projects that our waste goes towards before you do and hope that you’ll change your mind.

Just a few things that these products get turned into:

Hair Booms

Waste hair is put into booms which can absorb up to 4 litres of oil from the ocean to protect wildlife. They can be used 2 to 3 times.

Hair Mats

Used over drains so that only water runs into them (instead of plastics & waste), they can also be used to help grow your plants. 

Biodegradable Towels

The towels we use in the salon are compostable and biodegradable which means they break down just like food... but take a little longer.

Plastics and Metals

 Our waste plastics and metals at Spirit Hair Company in High Wycombe are being made into combs, colour bowls and other useful salon products.
