Hair Colour Policy At Spirit Hair Company In High Wycombe

PATCH/ COLOUR TESTING POLICY – IMPORTANT INFORMATION 

As from 1st April 2023, we will be moving all our clients ( with a couple of exceptions) over to the Colourstart Patch Test. 

Colourstart is a clean and convenient way to screen for potential allergy to one of the chemicals, called para phenylenediamine (PPD), found in most hair colours. To reduce the risk of experiencing an allergic reaction to hair colour, some manufacturers recommend screening for allergy by using an Allergy Alert Test (AAT) on the skin.

Colourstart can be used instead of the AAT to test for allergy to PPD. Colourstart Passport is an online app that helps the user decide if Colourstart is suitable for them. Colourstart Passport can also store the user’s Colourstart test result for sharing with participating hair professionals, so making walk in colours possible. This convenient method of patch testing means that you don’t have to come into the salon 48 hours prior to every colour service for a patch test. Once you’ve completed the Colourstart patch test and completed the questions in your passport & shared your results, all you need to do prior to each colour appointment is to simply log back in to your Colourstart passport and answer the questions again, sharing them each time with us. As long as there have been no changes, you are good to go. 

The Colour Start Test costs £15.00 and can be purchased at the salon. You should only need to do this test once and this will be a one off cost.  

We are aware that to some of our clients, this might be daunting, but we are here to walk you through this and we can book you a FREE 15 minute appointment, to help you get up and running. 

 Exceptions:  If you are a new client to the salon or haven’t been in for the past year, or there is a medical reason and Colour Start will not allow you to use the patch, then you will be able to come into the salon and have an in salon allergy test, free of charge.

If you do not want to do the Colour Start Patch test then you will need to book an In Salon Allergy Test at the cost per visit is £5.00.  

SKIN TESTING FOR SCALP APPLICATION FOR BLEACH THERE IS NO SKIN TEST THAT WE CAN DO FOR SENSITIVITY TO BLEACH.

Every person has a different tolerance or sensitivity to scalp bleaching. Factors such as skin type (oily/dry etc), ambient room temperature and skin temperature on different parts of the scalp are all factors on how bleach works. It is normal to feel an itching or tingling feeling – even a mild burning sensation when the bleach is first applied.  Do not wash your hair on the day of application as this seems to help, and if you do feel any major increase in levels of discomfort due to the bleaching process, please inform your stylist IMMEDIATELY. If you do not inform your stylist of this BURNING increasing to an uncomfortable level – this can result in a CHEMICAL BURN to your scalp. A full consultation will be required prior to your service to ensure that the health of your scalp and hair are suitable for this treatment and a strand test will be carried out.

NEW CLIENT COLOURS 

New clients booking colour services will be required to come into the salon for a complimentary consultation prior to your visit. This also includes clients that haven't visited the salon for over 6 months. You will have a full and in-depth consultation with a Colour Expert and the health of your hair and scalp will be assessed.  A 50% deposit will be required to confirm any appointment made and will become non-refundable should you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment or do not show up.

Please note:  A cut & finish is not included in the price when you book a hair colour at Spirit Hair Company in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, however all colour services must be booked with a cutting or styling service as standard, which can include a quick blowdry with an assistant.
