Goldwell Celebration of Colour

Why Continuous Education Helps Us Deliver Better Hair at Spirit Hair Company
Quick Takeaways
Our team regularly attends professional education events to stay up to date with the latest colour techniques, trends and innovations.
We recently attended the Goldwell Celebration of Colour, where we learnt from leading industry educators and colour specialists.
Every course we attend helps us deliver more personalised consultations, healthier hair and beautiful colour results for our guests in High Wycombe.
A Day of Colour, Creativity & Team Spirit
One of the things we love most about hairdressing is that you never really finish learning.
Even after decades behind the chair, there's always another technique to discover, another colour combination to inspire you or a different way of looking at something you've done hundreds of times before.
That's why education has always been such an important part of life at Spirit Hair Company in High Wycombe.
Recently, our team had the opportunity to step away from the salon and immerse ourselves in all things colour at the Goldwell Celebration of Colour.
And we loved it.
There was colour inspiration everywhere, new ideas to discuss and plenty for us to bring back to the salon.
But it was also lovely to experience it together as a team.
Colour Is Already a Big Part of Who We Are
Anyone who knows Spirit knows how much we love colour.
And there's a huge amount of colour experience within our team.
Lauren has been at the heart of Spirit for more than 35 years. As a Colour Master, NVQ Assessor and Head Spirit Trainer, she's always believed that great hairdressing comes from combining experience with continuous learning. In fact, nurturing and developing the team remains a huge part of what she wants Spirit to stand for.
Then there's Livvy, Lauren's daughter, who has quite literally grown up with Spirit.
Today she's our Head Spirit Colourist, a Goldwell Colour Artist and an award-winning colourist who previously won silver in the Goldwell National Global Zoom Competition. She's also passionate about education herself and has experience training other professional colourists as well as sharing her knowledge with the Spirit team.
So, as you can probably imagine, putting our team in a room filled with colour inspiration is always going to get us talking!
Learning From Goldwell – Then Making It Our Own
Events like the Goldwell Celebration of Colour aren't about coming back to the salon and putting exactly the same trending colour on everybody.
Quite the opposite.
We look at the techniques.
We talk about the formulas.
We notice different placements.
We explore new colour ideas.
And then we ask:
How could we use this for our guests?
Because the person sitting in our chair might have saved an incredible copper, blonde or brunette on Instagram, but our job is to work out how that inspiration translates to their hair.
That's where professional education and experience come together.
Knowledge Gets Shared at Spirit
One of the things we're particularly proud of is that education doesn't stop with the person who attends the course.
We bring it back and share it.
That's embedded in the way our team works.
Serena, for example, has been part of Spirit for more than 22 years and is a Goldwell Colour Master, NVQ Assessor and Spirit Trainer. Alongside creating beautiful colour for her own loyal guests, she works with Lauren to guide Spirit's younger learners through their training.
Lucy, who has been with us for more than 15 years, is also working towards becoming a Spirit Trainer so she can pass her experience on to the next generation of our team.
And at the other end of that journey is Imogen, our Level 2 trainee, who's busy developing her skills and working towards becoming one of Spirit's next generation of stylists.
That's what continuous education means to us.
It isn't one training day.
It's a culture of learning from each other.
Experience Matters – But So Does Staying Curious
Between us, there are decades of hairdressing experience at Spirit.
Liz alone has been part of Spirit for more than 30 years, bringing a wealth of knowledge in cutting, styling and classic colour. Meanwhile, Sofia-Rose represents another generation of the team, combining creative cutting and colour with her role creating the salon's social media content.
Different generations of hairdressers bring different things to the salon.
Experience gives you instinct.
Education gives you fresh thinking.
Younger stylists bring new influences and ideas.
And when everybody shares what they know, the whole team becomes stronger.
That's exactly the environment we've always wanted to create at Spirit.
But What Does All This Mean for You?
Quite a lot, actually.
When you sit in our chair, you're not simply benefiting from the knowledge of one stylist.
You're coming into a salon where people talk about hair.
We discuss formulas. We share ideas. We learn from each other. Our experienced team helps develop our younger stylists, while fresh education keeps even our longest-standing hairdressers inspired.
Ultimately, that helps us give you a better consultation and make more informed decisions about your hair.
Perhaps you're thinking about going copper for autumn.
Maybe you're looking for a softer way to blend grey.
Perhaps your blonde needs a complete rethink.
Or you've simply got 15 screenshots saved on your phone and no idea which one will actually suit you.
Bring them in.
That's where our knowledge comes in.
Bringing the Celebration of Colour Back to High Wycombe
The best thing about a training day isn't necessarily the day itself.
It's what happens next.
We come back to Spirit inspired.
There are conversations behind the scenes, ideas being shared and new colour inspiration that eventually finds its way into the work we're creating for our guests.
Because that's the whole point of education.
We learn. We share. We create.
And ultimately, you get even better hair.
Great Hairdressers Never Stop Learning
After more than 35 years, Lauren could probably be forgiven for deciding she'd learned enough about hair.
But that's never been the Spirit way.
Hairdressing changes.
Colour changes.
Products change.
Techniques change.
And our team keeps learning with them.
That's what keeps our work exciting and our creativity alive whether you've been visiting Spirit for decades or you're about to walk through our doors for the first time.
So thank you to Goldwell for another dose of inspiration.
Now we're ready to bring it back behind the chair.
Love,
Lauren & the Spirit Hair Company Team
